FEATURES: Virgin forest covered slopes (called “Mata Atlantica” or Atlantic Forest Reserve) dominate the region. Famous for its unique fertile conditions and healthy climate, this land houses numerous vegetal, bird and mammal species. From the Serra da Piraquara Hill slope multiple fountains of water are born, which eventually unite to give origin to the Rio Pequeno River, all within the reserve limits. Pure and crystalline water runs through the virgin forest down to a built dam, included within our lot, all year round.

RESERVE STATUS: This land is inserted in the larger area of Pedra Branca State Park (State Law 2377/74), part of the Atlantic Forest Southeast Reserves. It is therefore bounded by its legislation concerning the protection of its natural resources. It is hence exempted of any tax whatsoever by the city’s Government (Municipal Law 691/84). In 1999 the World Heritage Comitee of the Unesco has inscribed the Atlantic Forest Southeast Reserves on the World Heritage List. These forests, victims of man’s exploitation, have been shrinking in area for centuries, and possess an enormous variety of native species in danger of extinction.
