Atop a hill one minute from the gorgeous private beach of Manzanillo on the southwestern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula on the Pacific, this beautiful two-story almond wood home constructed in the style typical of the area offers views of the ocean and is surrounded by tropical greenery. Two bedrooms, a small kitchen area and bathroom, and an open living quarter constitute the main house. The property has 4 building sites on three-quarters of an acre and a year round well. One end of the property borders the road leading to the ocean, making it an ideal spot for rental cabinas and a business. The upper site has a treehouse which can be used as a dormitory. Manzanillo is a sleepy community unspoiled by foreign invasion, yet is near other beach communities such as Montezuma and Santa Teresa, famous for their eclectic mix of Costa Rican and international culture. The next beach south of Manzanillo is Playa Hermosa, the best surf spot in Costa Rica. This area of Costa Rica is one which calls to the adventurer, the surfer, and those wishing to stay away from Burger King. Here you will find no chains. All foreign business in the area is run by individuals who are truly living an alternative dream. This home is for sale and for rent. Please contact our property manager in Costa Rica, Trey Derrick, at nicoyarealestate@yahoo.com for assistance in renting if we do not respond within a few days. Trey may be called at 359-3860 or 642-0628 from within Costa Rica. All questions regarding the sale of the property should however be addressed to the owners. To read about the Nicoya Peninsula please see the website with this name. To find out how easy it is for a foreigner to buy in Costa Rica, please check the internet. Please note, the rent price listed is for the off season, April to November. During the high season of November through April, we ask $800 per month. Many thanks. MORE FACTS: PROPERTY DESCRIPTION: Three-tenths of a hectare (3000 sq. meters) consisting of two lots that roughly make an L shape. The base of the L is a 50 meter long, 25 meter wide rectangle stretching East-West. The vertical rectangle is stretching North-South, 87 meters deep and 21 meters wide where the main road from Manzanillo Beach to Cobano goes East along the North boundary of the property. The southern part of the property is hilly, affording views of the ocean from the house, about 150 meters from the mean tide of the ocean. The northern part of the L is flat, providing a good spot to build along the main road, if a tourist-based business is desired. Another building site has been prepared to the south of the existing house which gives a higher perspective of shoreline. The "treehouse" on the highest ground (at the "toe" of the L shaped property as a whole) is in fact erected on "horcones" which are logs set vertically in concrete. The treehouse is very primitive and currently is suitable only for sleeping and relaxation. Please note, the property has one property between it and the ocean. UTILITIES: The well for the main house is new; the water has been tested in a laboratory in San Jose and is approved for drinking; however, the water still has a "taste" and so we have used a 5 gallon bottle of grocery store water in the kitchen for cooking. The community of Bello Horizonte, or Manzanillo, is now, through the actions of its Water Board, putting together the aqueduct for community water. Along with the electric power hookup six years ago, community water will add to the prosperity of the town. The electric bill for the main house is about three dollars per month! Towns nearby have private phones, yet this is still not an option in Bello Horizonte. A private cell phone may be used. A community phone is within 5 minutes walking distance of our home however. In the near future private phones in Manzanillo will be possible. LIFE NECESSITIES: Our main house is simply furnished with everything you will need, with the exception of towels. |
