We have sadly decided to let go of our dream life style block, Lot 4 in Little Stream rural subdivision that we discovered and secured in 2005 before market release. The property is a spacious 6.18 Ha on mainly two levels of large sunny pastures and includes Little Stream creek with beautiful mountain views in all directions.
This parcel is a rare find and hidden treasure easily overlooked. At first glance there are a lot of lifestyle blocks and beautiful views available in the region, but few feel like coming home; as well as being private, relatively quiet, close to town and big enough to keep horses. We did a lot of ground research, driving all the Queenstown roads before settling on this particular corner of the Wakatipu basin. To us it has the most homely feel and, being the furthest away from the international airport, is more peaceful than most of the area. All this, whilst still being only seven minutes scenic drive away from Queenstown with it’s great shops and restaurants from basic to boutique. The Coronet peak ski field is only 10 minutes drive north and the Remarkables are approx. 20 minutes south-east.
From the main subdivision entrance at Littles Road, a private driveway takes you through a grove of willows and over a small stream before curving along a beautiful upper meadow bordering the stream. At the end of the meadow the road passes between a hillside and Little Stream. At this point there is a side track up to the highest point on Lot 4, with fantastic views of the whole property and well beyond. Continuing along the driveway there is a first beautiful view over the house site and the surrounding meadows, all of which are privately nestled away from the main road and border the Shotover River reserve.
The designated driveway gently approaches the house site below by making a sweeping curve following the topography of the land. The view from the house site towards the Remarkables is one of the most beautifully framed views in the area. There are beautiful mountain views in all directions, but this very special Remarkables view, the privacy and the natural curvature of the land dividing the property into different “rooms” is what we fell in love with. Our photos don’t do justice to this special property.
Bordering the forested Shotover river reserve adds yet another dimension to the property and locals have told us that the river can be crossed by horseback to access the dramatic Queenstown Hill. The property sits so high above the Shotover River it is naturally flood-free and sightseeing jet boats are only faintly audible.
This lot has the most generous building space: 20x40 meter platform with a 6 meter building height. Electricity, phone and water are already by the building site. The property has new 7-wire perimeter fencing and has recently been planted with natives.
Wakatipu basin lies between Queenstown and Arrowtown, and is one of the most beautiful areas of New Zealand and, indeed, the world. There are an abundance of exciting year-round activities throughout the region. Several of New Zealand’s most famous walking tracks are accessed near and around Queenstown.
There is a refreshing mixture of people from all walks of life, backpackers to ultra wealthy, all sharing the excitement of there, which brings the naturally high energy in the area even higher. Queenstown has the buzz of a big city yet in a very scenic and available package – all amenities, whilst retaining a small town feel.
