Kanantik Reef & Jungle Resort (www.kanantik.com), an eco-sensitive Resort on the southern coast of Belize, was built in 2002 within the natural environment and attempts to preserve the pristine setting established by nature.
The resort is located 6 miles off the Southern highway, in an area known as South Stann Creek, 35 miles south of Dangriga, north of Placencia and just south of Sittee Point and the Sapodillo lagoon.
Kanantik is built on 1300 feet of private beach in a remote area, and a present there are not development nearby, we are surrounded by miles of wilderness; we are just four miles south of Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, a 150,000 acres National Park for the preservation of the jaguar. The resort encompasses 325 acres of natural and untouched land rich of wildlife: a large variety of birds and other animals including the jaguar are part of the environment.
Kanantik consists of 25 separate, individual air-conditioned cabanas, each indulgently spacious and luxurious. Each of the cabanas, 550 sqf. is set apart for maximum privacy. There are separate reception, restaurant and bar cabanas style building as well. Mayan tradition has inspired the style of all the thatched-roof buildings; furniture is hand crafted by local artisans. The resort is unique and able to cater to the most discriminating of tastes with a one-of-a-kind blend of luxury, seclusion, good service and good cuisine. Kanantik offers a complete dive shop with a Newton 42' and a Newton 32' dive boats. SCUBA diving, snorkeling, swimming in our freshwater pool, sailing on our Hobie Cat and sea kayaking are also available. Excursions include river canoeing, the Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Reserve, the Bocawina waterfall, birding and visit at the Mayan ruins.
Kanantik is the only resort in Belize able to offer the best of two worlds: built on the seashore, where guests enjoy beautiful seaside accommodations and with the added attraction of all the activities offered by the sea and the nearby jungle and wilderness.
Guests can fly direct to our private paved airstrip from the Belize International Airport with Tropic Air on regular scheduled flights, four days a week, Friday to Monday; the airstrip is located four miles from the Resort, on a private 25 acres property.
The power supply comes from the Belize Electricity Limited three phase power lines, telephone by fix cellular units (2), satellite Internet and TV. Water is provided by two wells in the property; two propane tanks, 1,000 gals. each are for gas distribution for cabañas hot water, laundry, kitchens, etc; a 3,000 gals. diesel tank is for the vehicles, and a 2” fiberglass line to the end of the 200’ pier for boats refueling; a 1,000 gals. fuel tank for our Unimog and the outboard engine for the 23’ skiff.
We own different vehicles, all of them in excellent condition: three Mercedes minibuses, one Isuzu refrigerated truck used mostly for food supplies, one Toyota pick-up, all diesel, one gasoline military Mercedes Unimog for our river canoeing excursions, two Carryall electric Club cars for house keeping and conveniences.
The guest’s main kitchen is equipped with enough hardware to satisfy the need of any demanding Chef: freezer, refrigerator, ice machine, pasta and espresso machines Italian made, an outdoor 24x24’ walk-in freezer-refrigerator. Our laundry is equipped with commercial washers (2), gas dryers (2). We provide accommodation for up to 45 workers in two separate buildings with bedrooms, private and common bathrooms, kitchen, satellite TV, etc.
A Belizean corporation, G&R Development Company of Belize, Ltd. owns the title of the two parcels of land (300 acres property and 25 acres airstrip) “free & clear”, the company has only two shareholders.
