We chartered a small plane to search from the North to the South of Belize. Tiger Point was one of the properties that we decided to have a closer look at. From the moment we stepped ashore, we knew that the 359 acres of tropical paradise with miles of white sand beaches, cool tropical breezes and gin clear water was to be our dreamland. The inland waterway location and high ground would protect us from storms or floods. Additionally we felt that with a one hour transit time to all the notable Belizean attractions and located adjacent to a forest and marine preserve we would be able to; watch snapper leaping out of the water, see tarpon sail across the lagoon and listen to Manatee whisper under the moonlight. These things together are the most valuable treasure found only at Tiger Point. Eventually we developed a small eco lodge. The buildings are framed with local hardwoods and their elevated decks allow us to sit with a cold beverage and enjoy the bright orange fireball setting while coloring the sky and the palms swaying with the breeze. We have tried to become as self-sufficient as possible by; catching and storing rainwater, generating our own power, reusing gray water to water the landscaping and utilizing a modern composting toilet system that converts waste into a dry fertilizer. By using these measures we believe that we have managed to protect Tiger Point’s natural beauty. But the good things and dream have come to a stop due to health problem. We have returned to Canada and a Manatee research program is now based at Tiger Point. Tiger point is a unique property and could become anything that you could dream of. We hope that there is someone with the vision and plan that can take Tiger Point and fashion it into their reality. Here are some key points about this fantastic property and incredible bargain! With three miles of waterfront and warm Caribbean breezes, Tiger Point is remote but centrally located in the rapidly developing country of Belize. There has been no better time than now to invest in Caribbean property. This unique property, and the existing improvements, would make an ideal eco-tourism resort and is in fact ready to open for business, turn key condition.
Since the cruise ships have started to land passengers in Belize, both the government and tour operators have been scrambling to accommodate the crowd. Both a proposal to develop a tourism village near Tiger Point and an initiative that would put a coastal road within a mile of this property has made Tiger Point all the more valuable for tourism targeted development.
Tiger Point is ideally located in Southern Lagoon surrounded by nature reserves and could be developed into more than just an eco-tourism resort. Due to its remote location, any type of resort operation where seclusion would be required, such as; a spiritual retreat, health spa, alternative medicine treatment center, assisted living complex, fishing lodge, equestrian center, game reserve, etc., would be advantageous.
This property may also be subdivided, and because of the amount of excellent waterfront exposure, many home sites could be developed. These lots could be sold to individuals who may build vacation homes. Common land could be developed into a golf course, be put into pasture for livestock, or could just be left in its natural state. If the resort was retained, and further developed, its management team could put these homes into an upscale rental pool when the owners are not in residence. This would then make the resort more attractive to a variety of guests.
The existing buildings could also be modified and incorporated into a private estate. Just put in your airstrip or land your amphibious aircraft in the calm waters of the lagoon, tie up your sport fishing boat to the dock and live the life that you have always dreamed of.
