The Island of Zapatera is the 2nd biggest island in the middle of Lake Cocibolca (Lake Nicaragua).  This is a beautiful island that has beaches and mountain.  The property that we are offering has sand beaches with clear fresh water and virgin forest, hills and views of 3 volcanos.  The island is a short 35 minute boatride from the Colonial Cty of Granada.

On the map this island looks like a Picasso painting. This rustic and remote national park is a unique escape for those looking to avoid the thongs of tourists.  This island is tucked away in the corner of Lake Cocibolca like a geological secret. Zapatera is a place where occasional visitors come to inspect mysterious pre-Columbian petroglyphs left by indigenous islandes, hike a now inactive volcano or try their hand at fishing.  The island is inhabited mostly by birds that glide along the coas and over the heads of the few island residents who scratch out a living with subsistence farmin, fishing and livestock.
