Make your dream come true….
You love books?
You love music?
You always wanted to live on a Caribbean island? - then Funkytown is the right business opportunity for you.
Funkytown is on Utila – but where is Utila?
Utila is a charming Caribbean island 45 minutes by boat from mainland Honduras (La Ceiba). Our island is just 11 km long and 4 km at its widest and surrounded by vast coral reefs with prolific undersea life. The smallest of the major islands in The Bay Islands group, we are renowned as being one of the least expensive and most beautiful places in the world for a scuba diving vacation. In contrast to the mainland, Utila is officially English speaking. UTILA NOW RATED WITHIN THE TOP 20 ISLANDS IN THE WORLD TO LIVE ON; SEE AUGUST 2007 ISSUE OF ISLANDS MAGAZINE (for more information go to www.aboututila.com).
What is Funkytown all about?
Funkytown is a small, well established book and music store/library located right on Utila's only main street (since 2004). Funkytown is sharing a salesroom with the local DVD Rental business, resulting in cross-promotional advantages. Our customers are tourists, dive instructors and dive masters as well as ex-pats living on the island. The main business is book sales, rental and exchange. We are proud of our selection of Classics, Man-Booker-, Orange-, Pen/Faulkner-, Pulitzer Price and Nobel Price-winning literature and of course beach literature (but to a smaller amount).
Music sales and exchange makes a yet small but growing part of the daily business. This part of the business offers a lot of potential for growth but my 4 children didn't give me any time to do so yet...
Island designed T-shirts and some island style clothing (made by a seamstress on the main land) are for sale as well (expansion potential according to your own interest).
What do you get for your money?
